NO one asked me, but… well, actually someone DID ask me. How would I devise a campaign to reelect the current president? It appears that pretty much everything is going against him. The Liberals have become angry because he has NOT (yet): ended terrorist detention; agreed (in principle) to additional stimulus spending; made (even post natal) abortion mandatory for all; raised taxes on everyone, twice; ended the military actions in Libya and Afghanistan; etc. Rational people are angry because he continues to attempt to bring about national economic disaster. Unemployment, as anyone with knowledge of economic reality would have known, continues to sustained at high levels because of his policies. So how does he go to the public and say: “I hope that you won’t change”?
He runs on his record. This is NOT a misprint. He runs on his micro effort (and results) and not his macro effort (and results). Macro (in economics and other fields of study) refers to the overall view, examining matters from the largest perspective. Micro refers the small unit, even the individual. Imagine a hundred thousand TV commercials---because he can afford at least this many!---like these.
A black woman sits in a classroom. She speaks. “The Republicans may tell you that the Obama administration did not spend money wisely. I am a teacher. This is my classroom. Before he took office we did not always have enough funds for books, heat, and even chalk. Now we do.” She holds up the chalk. “Funds came from the federal budget. I consider teaching our children to be a wise thing to do… do you agree?” Perhaps the children, mostly Black and in wheelchairs, then enter the classroom and chant, in unison: “Thank you, President Obama.”
Imagine a man within a small business. It could be an office, a garage, a bakery, etc. Workers move about behind him. He speaks. “The Republicans may tell you that the stimulus plan did not work. Without that help this place would have closed down. With that help I hired one new employee. No, this did not solve the problem for the entire nation.” The employee walks by and stops. He (it) is maybe a transsexual vaguely colored person. “But I think that, sometimes, we have to look at the problems of real people... and help them solve them for themselves. Don’t you agree?” The worker says (or maybe signs, as he is deaf and handicapped, of course), “Thank you, President Obama.”
Imagine a woman (a lesbian, of course) sitting at a desk in a bank. She speaks. “There is a myth that all bankers are rich, and, well…” (she smiles) “Republicans. I am a banker and I am going to vote for President Banks play an important part of the recovery. Under the current administration the conflict between Wall Street and Main Street was reduced, by prudent and needed regulations, that benefited everyone. It may take some more time to be completely effective, but we do not want to go back to the way things were like, do we? Being Americans we all want the nation to be better, don’t we?” A homeless family is shown happily living in the vault. They stop eating out of cans and turn to the camera and say, “Thank you, President Obama.”
I could write more, but that would only be showing off. In fact, what I wrote was pretty much only showing off. However, there was one other reason. I have become “suspicious” regarding who may be reading this effort. So, maybe, in about 14 months, I shall be able to confirm one of those suspicions. Please keep this in mind. I am warning his opponents, in advance, what to expect. Should those rich fat Republicans wish to pay me to compose alternative arguments, they know how to reach me. And if they do not care enough about the nation to do this, then they do not deserve to win the next election.
